NOTED-SEAMEO SPONSOR FORUM ON REKINDLING PASSION FOR TEACHING
In observance of the Teachers’ Month Celebration, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Regional Center for Innovation Technology (SEAMEO-INNOTECH), in partnership with the Network of Outstanding Teachers and Educators (NOTED) hosted a forum on “Celebrating the Teacher in Us: Journeying as Teaching, Teaching as Journeying” last September 30 at the Pearl Hall of SEAMEO-Innotech. The half-day forum aimed to provide an avenue for sharing of and learning from various experiences of teachers, as well as recognizing and celebrating achievements in their respective milestones. Also, the forum provided the participants with the opportunity to think of and discuss strategies, support mechanisms and enabling initiatives to help teachers go through the various stages of teacher transition and development. Invited forum speakers were Dr. Hilda C Montano (SOT 2012) of West Visayas State University, Milagros Banan (SOT 2015) of Ernesto Rondon High School and Amcy Esteban (SOT 2015) of Legard Elemenatry School-Manila. Dr. Allan de Guzman, NOTED President and Dean of the UST College of Education served as forum moderator. The highly musical forum adopted by NOTED and SEAMO gave the audience an entirely engaging atmosphere with nursery rhymes serving as discussion stimuli. Mr. Aniceto M. Sobrepeña, President of the Metrobank Foundation and Dr. Ramon Bacani, Jr. SEAMEO-INNOTECH Director gave the opening remarks and inspirational message, respectively. The forum was attended by more than 200 preservice and inservice teachers representing various institutions in the NCR and nearby provinces.
