Ocampo, Legasto receive UP Outstanding Achievement Award


Two former Search for Outstanding Teacher awardees were named distinguished alumni by the University of the Philippines recently. Drs. Dina Joana S. Ocampo and Priscelina Patajo-Legasto were given recognition by the University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) during its annual alumni homecoming at Ang Bahay ng Alumni of UP's Diliman campus. Drs. Ocampo and Legasto were recipients of the Metrobank Foundation Award for Continuing Excellence in Service (ACES 2014 and 2009) and the Search for Outstanding Teachers (SOT 2009 and 1998). Dr. Ocampo was former dean of the UP College of Education and currently serves as Undersecretary for Programs and Projects of the Department of Education. Dr. Legasto, for her part, is Professor of Comparative Literature at the Department of English and Comparative Literature (DECL), of Arts and Letters, University of the Philippines Diliman. The recognition is conferred on UP alumni who have demonstrated, in their chosen fields of endeavor, extraordinary achievements and excellent contributions that bring about substantial benefits to society and distinct honor to the university. Recognition is given for achievements and contributions at the local, national or international level. The awards rites were held last June 20.
