MISSION STATEMENT
ABOUT THE METROBANK FOUNDATION
Established on January 8, 1979 by George S. K. Ty, sixteen (16) years after he founded Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company, the Metrobank Foundation is engaged in social development projects in the Philippines and other parts of Asia. As the corporate social responsibility arm of the Metrobank Group, the Foundation implements various programs in education, visual arts and healthcare. It also maintains an active and dynamic partnership with other organizations that likewise provide services for the disadvantaged. Among the Foundation’s flagship programs are the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE), Search for Outstanding Teachers (SOT), College Scholarship Program (CSP), Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge (MMC), The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS) and Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS). It also supports programs aimed at educating the citizenry on public-interest issues through research and lectures given by the distinguished holders of the Metrobank Foundation Professional Lecture established by the Foundation in partnership with reputable educational institutions.
The Foundation is also the majority owner of the Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH), one of the leading centers of wellness in the country. It actively supports the Hospital’s operations and provides funds for a wide array of social services, including subsidies for in-house charity patients, outreach programs and health-related interventions in adopted communities, as well as research. Since 2005, MDH has achieved the distinction of being the first hospital in Manila to be ISO 9001: 2000 certified. MDH serves as the base hospital of the Manila Tytana Colleges (formerly Manila Doctors College), which is also an affiliate educational institution of the Foundation. MTC offers degree courses in nursing, psychology, hotel and restaurant management, nutrition with culinary arts, and information technology.
During the celebration of its 30th Anniversary in 2009, the Foundation affirmed its commitment to remain a leader in corporate social responsibility by initiating and supporting leading edge programs that have the potential to uplift the lives of our people and inspire the best in the Filipinos. Encapsulating the heart and spirit if what the Metrobank Foundation does, the theme “Excel. Engage. Empower” or the 3Es shall serve as the roadmap of the Foundation, a campaign which commenced in early 2009. The Foundation inspires people to excel in what they do and gives recognition for their excellent contributions to their fields. After recognizing these remarkable individuals, the Foundation engages them and the communities where they belong, together with its partners, to aspire for more and give back to society. By engaging these stakeholders, the Foundation believes that it empowers them to become even better members of society and agents of positive influence.
